Add a Stress Free Zone

Make an area of your home that is the place where you go just to turn everything off and stop thinking. This is where you go to unwind and relax. Do yoga, listen to music, or read a book. Maybe you can even take a nap or soak in a hot tub. It needs to be a place where you can just turn your brain off for a while.

Empty Bowls was started by a group of high school students back in 1990. They were challenged by their teacher to come up with a way to raise money for a food drive and this is what ultimately became of it. Now Empty Bowls is an event that takes place every year all over the world. Since 2007, the Airdrie Food bank has been putting on the Empty Bowls Arts Festival.

It was such a huge hit with the community that the following year they received funding through Canada Heritage. This of course has made a huge difference and allowed them to do more and more every year with the festival. Each year the number of attendees has gone up and so has the number of bowls sold.

This year, 2015, will mark the 9th year of the annual Empty Bowls Arts Festival.

Mr. Shawarma is a locally owned restaurant serving the Airdrie area. Everything in the restaurant is made fresh daily, from scratch. Their philosophy on food is very simple. They believe in using nothing but the highest quality meats and vegetables in every meal they make. Because of this they are able to provide guests with healthy, authentic food that is full of flavour.

The Menu

One thing that makes Mr. Shawarma so unique are the variety of meats, vegetables and spices used to create every entree. They focus on the quality of the food and not how fast they can prepare it. They never use fillers or by products. Everything on the menu is home made.

One bite is all it takes and you will be hooked. You may come hungry, but you will no doubt leave
