Restaurant Spotlight: Five Guys

Located in a little shopping plaza off Sierra Springs Drive SE, Five Guys doesn’t look like much. However, if you have a hunger for a good burger and great fries, step inside and prepare to be amazed.

When you dine at Five Guys, you should know some things. Primarily, what exactly is the difference between a standard burger and a little one? The answer is easy; the little has one hamburger patty and the regular has two. You get unlimited toppings with your burger, and if you’re feeling adventurous, just tell them that you want to go “all the way.”

This gets you ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and grilled onions and mushrooms. You can swap any of these out and even get your burger without a bun. It then comes either wrapped in lettuce or in a bowl. The options are endless.

If you’re not in the mood for a burger, you can get a grilled cheese, kosher-style hot dogs, or even a veggie sandwich. All of Five Guys sandwiches come on their signature bread that is grilled for extra flavour.

What About The Fries?

Five Guys makes their fries from potatoes cut fresh on site. When you go in, a whiteboard proudly declares where today’s batch of potatoes came from. The fries come with a dash of Five Guys salt, but if you’re in the mood for a little spiciness, get them Cajun style.

Five Guys cooks all of their fries to order in 100% peanut oil. This freshness gives the fries a crispness that has to be tasted to be understood.

Don’t be surprised if you take some fries home with you. Most people are a little surprised at the sheer volume of fries you actually get with a single order. If you get the craving for an American style cheeseburger and fries, make this famous chain your next stop.
