What is the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League All About?

The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League or RMLL is a box lacrosse league found in Alberta. They have teams in many different areas of the province in many different divisions. The league experience a large amount of growth as the populations of the area grew in both Calgary and Edmonton. 19 teams played in 2002, while 37 teams were a part of the league by 2005 and 59 teams by 2006.

The Divisions and Teams

RMLL is split into eight divisions including:

  • Senior B
  • Senior C
  • Junior A
  • Junior B Tier I Junior
  • Junior B Tier II Junior
  • Junior B Tier III Junior
  • Senior Ladies
  • Junior Ladies

These divisions all have different teams including:

  • Senior B - St. Abler Miners, Rockyview Knights (Airdrie)
  • Calgary Mountaineers, Edmonton Outlaws, Okotoks Raiders and Spruce Rove Slash
  • Senior C - Blackfalds Silverbacks, Vermilion Rage, Tomahawks Sr. Lacrosse, Okotoks Eratic, Calgary Irish, Airdrie Mohawks and Lethbridge Pioneers
  • Junior A - Calgary Jr. A Mountaineers, Calgary Jr. A Raiders, Sherwood Park Jr. A Titans and Edmonton Jr. A Miners
  • Junior B Tier I - 11 teams in this division
  • Junior B Tier II - 21 Teams in this division
  • Junior B Tier III - Olds Stingers, High River Heat, Crowsnest Pass Ravens, Medicine Hat Sun Devils, Lethbridge Barracudas, Calgary Axemen - Mavericks and Calgary Wranglers
  • Senior Ladies - Calgary Cougars, Edmonton Bandits and Red Deer Rage
  • Junior Ladies - Sherwood Park Jr. Ladies Titans, Calgary Cardinals, Calgary Axemen - Snipers, St. Albert Drillers and Capital Region Saints.

The two Airdrie teams are the Rockyview Knights and the Airdrie Mohawks. They both play in the senior divisions and the Rockyview Knights finished tied for second last year.
