Welcome to the first blog post for Airdrie homes for sale. This blog will help you understand more about the buying and selling process and will keep you up-to-date about local news, events and special features of this town. Airdrie is just a short drive away from Calgary but it has its own pulse and this is what distinguishes it from the other towns around the big city. This bedroom community is vibrant and peaceful at the same time. It's the place where you can buy a home without having to pay the exorbitant price for home ownership that you'd have to pay in the city.

So far this year, home sales have been brisk in Airdrie and if the case remains the same for the rest of 2014, housing sales will be breaking records. The town has recorded its best ever third-quarter from July 1 up until September 30. There were 455 units changing hands, which was a 16% increase when compared to the numbers recorded last year. According to the Calgary Real Estate Board, there were 1,354 units sold on a year-to-date basis, which was a 20% hike.

These types of housing sales aren't only happening in Airdrie either. Double-digit growth in housing sales was recorded in Airdrie, Cochrane and Okotoks in the third quarter of this year. In all of the Calgary surrounding towns, 4,449 units changed hands, which was a 26% increase when compared to the same time period last year.

As prices continue to rise in Calgary, more and more buyers are looking outside of the city limits for reasonably priced housing. The benchmark price for a home in Airdrie was $387,767 during for third-quarter. In Okotoks the price was $417,967 and in Cochrane it was $433,933.

Affordable pricing along with a small-town atmosphere continues to attract buyers to the area. Stay tuned to this blog to find out more about the Airdrie area and everything it has to offer.
