Who are the Airdrie Lynx Air Cadets?

The Airdrie Lynx Air Cadets were formed in 2000 because the Airdrie area was in need of an Air Cadet Squadron. They were given strong support from the Air Cadet League of Alberta and gained plenty of steam out of the gate.

The Cadet program is designed by Canadian Forces (DND), whine the Air Cadet League administers the program and the local Squadron Staff implements the program. The "88" Airdrie Lynx hold their meetings every Wednesday at the Ecole Airdrie Middle School from 6:15 pm to 9pm.

Cadet Activities

There are multiple activities the Cadets perform throughout the year including:

Ground School - This program includes a qualifying example for those looking to enter the Gliding Pilot or Power Pilot training courses. It's much like aviation school and teaches the basics of flying.

Gliding - This is required training for air Cadets and provides the opportunity for Cadets to get out twice a year or more.

Band - The Cadets have a band program with marching songs and an Annual Ceremonial Review.

Drill - An important part of training and includes discipline, price and cohesion.

Flag Party - A yearly part of the Annual Ceremonial Review, the flag party bears the flag on parade.

Sports - The Cadet program includes sports nights held throughout the year.

These are just a sampling of the Cadet activities. Many others are also a part of the program.

The aims of the Cadet program are to develop good leadership and citizenship in the youth, along with promoting physical fitness, stimulating interest in aviation and stimulating interest in the Canadian Forces. They value loyalty, integrity, mutual respect and professionalism.

Joining the Cadets

Those age 12 and older can register to join the cadets. They must pass a portion of the training to be considered a Cadet and fill out the necessary paperwork. For more information about the "88" Airdrie Lynx Air Cadet Squadron visit their website at, http://airdrieaircadets.ca.

Understanding Buyer Fear

There are a lot of reasons why people put off purchasing a Calgary home but the major one is fear. It can become so intense that it actually becomes paralyzing.

Many people will say that the number one reason is that they do not have the money to put towards a down payment. If you look a little deeper, however, these individuals or couples may have been using this excuse for many years and haven't put in the effort to get the money together.

You see, many people have put together a 5-year or even a 10-year plan to save money for a home. There is always a way to make it happen if something is wanted badly enough. A second part-time job could be secured, money could be borrowed from friends or family or unwanted items could be sold to raise money. Even eating out less during the month can put some extra money into a savings account. So this leaves us with the fact that there must be an underlying fear.

When a person has a fear of something they may be unable to react at all to the situation. In some cases the person is not at all aware of what the real fear is since it is so well hidden. If something is not known then how could it possibly ever really be dealt with and handled? It can’t.

A person that is experiencing this type of paralysis about real estate must truly confront his fears and find out what the problem really is. This may take some effort but it is well worth it. Once the true fear is revealed it can be handled and the person can then confront getting his first home. This is quite an accomplishment and can be done by anyone that has been putting off buying a home because of excuses.

When you really want something and know that it makes sense as a long term plan then go for it. There will always be fear but you can handle it. Once you jump over the hurdles and the logistics of buying a new home you’ll be able to relax in the comfort of your new place.

How to Protect Yourself When Buying a New Condo

If you're planning on buying a new condo in the upcoming future there are a few things that you should be aware of. There will be a board that works out the budget for the building and performs a lot of administrative duties. You should know ahead of time that these boards can change things around when they take over business from the developer.

For example, if you have purchased a unit and you've been allowed to take your pet along with you, make sure that you get everything in writing. In new developments, the condo corporation takes over when people begin to move into the building.

There will be a turnover meeting in most cases and the developer hands over accounting and legal documents along with the budget to the condo corporation. At this time, a new board is elected by the corporation. A condo board can be compared to a city government. Bylaws can be amended from time to time and rules can change.

The best thing you can do to stay informed about any changes is to get involved right at the beginning and keep asking your questions. You can be a volunteer with the condominium board. This way, you can stay in the loop while at the same time contributing to help make your condominium experience the best it can be.

If you're purchasing a pre-owned condo, you must also make sure that you understand all of the rules, regulations and bylaws that apply. If you ever have any questions at all, be sure to ask them and always get your answers in writing. This way, you'll be protected. Most condo boards are concerned about keeping the owners happy and will be more than willing to work with you on any concerns or questions that you have voiced.

Whole Foods Will Be Opening a Calgary Store in 2017

If you have ever had a chance to visit a Whole Foods store before you'll know what all of the excitement is about. This is an amazing place to buy your groceries since it features organic and natural food in a supermarket-type of setting. This is an exciting announcement and many families, couples and individuals are looking forward to the grand opening.

It's not clear where the new store will be located but we'll find out soon. The company has already picked out the site but won't let the public know the location until June. If you regularly shop for organic or natural foods, you'll want to be on the lookout for the news of the upcoming location that will be released near the beginning of summer.

Whole Foods has been considering Calgary as a place of interest for quite a while now. The city is thriving and growing and could use another organic grocery store to keep up with the demand. If all goes well, Whole Foods will open up another store in the city later on.

When the store opens there will be about 150 new jobs created and it's expected that the opening date will be sometime during the summer in 2017. There are also plans in place to open stores in Edmonton and Victoria and the expected opening dates for these 2 stores is sometime during the fall in 2016. The Edmonton Whole Foods store will be the first one to open in Alberta and will cover a total of 42,000 ft.².

Airdrie residents are lucky to be living so close to the big city. Whole Foods is a major organic and natural food chain that has had phenomenal success across the U.S. and in its Canadian stores.
